I enjoy painting when the light plays on the surface of water, when trees, mountains and sky weave their forms with a lake or a stream. I look for the movements of the light and the wind revealing a tapestry of colors on the surface of waters.
While painting I follow the rhythmical movements of the water as I hear the trees whispering telling their story. I paint as mapping the spaces of light and time. By painting in front of the same lakes every month, year after year I am able to observe and feel deeply the changes taking place in our environment.
Following in the footsteps of the Hudson River Artists, I celebrate our river and The Catskill Mountains and wish to preserve the aliveness of our environment, our Hudson River Valley and our Earth. Our environment is part of our beautiful community.
I began painting the lakes, rivers and forests of the Catskill Mountains in October of 1980, and it was then when for the first time in my adult life that I felt completly at home.
In 1986 I made my home in this mountains. I live in Woodstock, NY. This is the place I love every day, in every season.
